Meet the Author

Raquel Jaramillo Palacio was born on July 13, 1963.  In her early days in the industry, she published work using the name Raquel.   As time went on, she began using her initials (R.J.).   Palacio grew up in New York and went to school in Manhattan.   She attended the High School of Art and Design, then furthered her education at Parsons School of Design.  Palacio even took her educational career to Paris, France where she attended American University.  

When she began working after school, Palacio was an illustrator.   Book publishing companies hired her to be their art director.  After illustrating several books by many authors, she began writing and illustrating her own work.
